An  aesthetics boutique opened a short distance from my office.  Who can resist such temptation? I picked up a brochure and skimmed over it for a couple of days, pondering and calculating.  Weighing up this and that, until I decided why the heck not? Let me go for a consult and see what happens. I’ve been to the dermatologist for my skin on different occasions (check out this post) and thought it might be worthwhile to try a different approach for my oily, acne prone skin. An Ode to the Sisterhood

Its almost the end of August (women’s month in SA) and I cant let it pass without an ode to the many amazing women I cross paths with.

Shall we start with a bit of history? I’ll keep it brief. On the 9th of August, we celebrate National Women’s day in South Africa. This auspicious occasion in commemorates the day on which thousands of women marched upon the Union Buildings (the seat of government) in 1956 to protest unjust pass laws. The laws required South Africans, of African ethnicity to carry special documentation that restricted their freedom of movement. Skin deep

An update on my skin woes

If you’ve read my previous posts here and here you’ll know that I have acne prone skin. I’ve been suffering with acne since puberty. I was on heavy prescription medication in my first year of varsity and I hated it. The side effects were terrible. It left my skin dry , itchy, discoloured and no amount of vaseline could moisturise my lips. But I haven’t had a problem since then, aside from the occasional breakout, until this year.  Continue reading “Skin deep”
